In an exclusive interview, Colin Jost talks about his team-up with Blue Moon as the brand’s first-ever celebrity partner. He admits he’s more of a food lover than a cook—and proudly leaves the culinary heavy lifting to others. His Staten Island roots influence his comfort food go-tos, especially seafood pasta from his favorite local spots.

You probably know Colin Jost from his years cracking jokes behind the Weekend Update desk on Saturday Night Live. Or maybe from hosting the Emmys. Or buying the Staten Island Ferry with Pete Davidson. Or being married to Scarlett Johansson. (Casual.) He even wrote a New York Times bestseller! And now he can add another accolade to his very feathered cap: Blue Moon’s first-ever celebrity partner.

He says the iconic beer, famously garnished with an orange slice (which Jost pokes fun at in a new commercial), pairs well with plenty more than just the one citrus. “It’s a beer that I like drinking on a hot summer day or at the beach,” he tells Delish. “It goes well with things that are spicy—I’m a Buffalo wings kind of guy, and I feel like that’s a good pairing.”

And while he certainly appreciates a cold drink and some good food, he’s not exactly rushing to man the stove. “My culinary skills are pretty limited,” he admits. Sure, he can boil water and cook pasta—and apparently make chicken out of a can—but he prefers to hang on the kitchen sidelines. “I’m a great supervisor and cheerleader if someone else is cooking,” he says. “I swear I at least do some cleanup,” he jokes. So yes, there are things the multi-hyphenate is not a master at. Good to know.

So what does he eat when he’s off kitchen duty? “Because I grew up in Staten Island, a comfort meal is usually Italian food,” he says. “I really love a linguini with any kind of seafood—that’s always my go-to, especially at a new place.”

It’s more than just regular comfort food, though—consider it the Jost litmus test. “If they make something like that, that’s kind of my barometer for how I like to judge an Italian restaurant, a spicy seafood pasta.”

And when it comes to Staten Island eats, Jost has his go-to recs: Denino’s, Osteria Bocelli, and Jody’s (where he recently flexed his bartending skills). Next stop: someone get this guy to Nonna’s!
