Tokyo is truly perfect for solo travel. The standing sushi bar in the basement of Takashimaya (B1) is amazing. especially the uni and salmon roe.

All of Japan is suited for solo sojourns. Extremely safe, easy to get around, warm folks, affordable

Dining is close to the best part.
In the US, first you always get, “Just one?” when entering, then you have to decide which 4 seat table you’re going to use right before they grab up all of the other table settings.
In Japan, It’s “Irasshaimase!”. There’s either a counter, or several small tables. Speak a little Japanese and you’re very likely to be gifted some small local dish.

After a bad breakup, I went to Tokyo on a whim. It was hands down the best food experience I’ve ever had.
