I got seeds from smokin eds company, puckerbutt, and the seeds took forever to germinate but eventually got two healthy plants out of 10 seeds on December 22nd, 2024. The peppers finally started to pop at day 187 on June 27th of this year. The peppers slowly turned from dark green, to green, and finally a creamy white. I was confused, werent they supposed to be red at maturity? So i waited. One week, two weeks….four weeks and 4 days…theyre still creamy white. Asked ChatGPT and it said its a rare phenotype? It was only labeled as carolina reaper so i was confused. Anyways heres some pics, gonna harvest a few since i guess theyre fully mature?

They look fantastic, so curious if they retained any of the reaper heat since they look so smooth. Have you been brave enough to taste them yet?

White sauces!

Doesn’t look at all like a reaper, even aside from the color

The last picture you have resembles a Reaper with that tail. But the skin looks tooo smooth on the sides for a Reaper. This pic shows how different the skin is and also the shape of this red Carolina Reaper.
Likes kinda like a rare 7 pot variety or a scorpion

Could be from one of the many cross breeds they try and many. Had some called F22 that went like that. So it’s probably like a reaper or scorpion.
It’ll happen when they try and do the whole multicolored thing like they’ve done with jalapeños and habaneros

I make a hot sauce with white ghost peppers, with apple and pears. It stays white and is a fun change of pace from red.

It might be possible they are white reapers. I bought a white reaper plant from my local nursery last year but it didn’t make it. Never produced any peppers, just kind of sat there while the other peppers did well.
The red reaper i bought survived but has yet to get peppers. I’ve had crappy luck with the reapers. I currently have 3 reaper plants and only 1 has a pepper on it, and it’s a single pepper. My BorgNine plant is pumping out insane peppers for the 2nd year in a row though.
