Welcome to From Book to Table —Our Virtual Cookbook Club!
This week I’m cooking an entire dinner from Everyday Grand by Jocelyn Delk Adams and it might just be the best meal I’ve made all month.

We’re making:
• Brown Sugar Bourbon Chicken (yes, it’s as good as it sounds!)
• Georgia Peach Salad with Candied Pecans
• Crispy Greek Lemon Wedges (fries with a fresh twist!)

These recipes are flavorful, easy to make, and absolutely soul-hugging. If you’re looking for new weeknight dinner ideas or inspiration from a Black cookbook author, this one’s for you.

Watch me cook, taste test, and give you my honest thoughts!

let the good times flow come along for the ride crazy and funny with family by every story every What’s up fam it’s your girl Cece back with another video if you’re new to my channel I hope you see something today that inspires you to subscribe and if you’re already a family member welcome back fam it is another cookbook club episode you guys know we’re still cooking out of Everyday Graham for the month of May and today we’re doing not one not two but three recipes so I’m going to let you know what we’re cooking today and we’re going to get started we’re making bourbon brown bourbon brown sugar wings this what they supposed to look like we’re also going to be making a hold on y’all georgia peach salad and to top things off some crispy Greek lemon wedges i’m really excited about tonight’s dinner so I hope you guys are too i also wanted to tell you guys if there’s a cookbook that you want me to try out or that you love please please please please please let me know this is our thing this is our club and I’m so happy that you’re here so with that being said let’s get into the video all right y’all so I came out here to the orchards to see if I could get some peaches for our salad but the peaches aren’t ripe just yet but we do have some [Music] d [Music] yeah one step forward two steps backwards [Music] yeah yeah baby [Music] all right y’all so first things first is the chicken so I have my chicken washed patted dry per the instructions and I have her seasoning blend now her seasoning blend includes baking powder garlic powder kosher salt finely ground black pepper paprika onion powder cayenne pap pepper which I omitted because my family don’t like spice and 2 and 12 lbs of chicken wings so I’m going to sprinkle this on half and then mix it up and sprinkle the other half so let’s do that [Music] next we’re going to place the chicken on the parchment paper and roast it in the oven for 20 minutes at 425 so let go so we’re going to roast these in the oven for 20 minutes and then we’re going to flip them and roast them for 20 to 25 minutes just depending on the doness that we like so I’m about to pop these in the oven and we’ll start on the next [Music] Okay so we’re going to start on our potato wedges i have a little bit of oil in my pan here i’m just going to rub this in okay so pre I did my prep before this so that we wouldn’t have to go through all the steps and I can kind of get my weekn night dinner done early so that’s just a tip for you if you’re cooking in the middle of the week if you’re if it’s a week night just go ahead and prep the stuff so it’s already done so in this bowl I have about five rusted potatoes clean and chopped down i use my potato pillar well I use my French fry cutter but you can just chop them into wedges um and it’s covered in this lemony buttery garlic sauce in the sauce there is olive oil butter lemon juice chicken stock kosher salt oregano rosemary pepper and paprika okay when I tell you this smells so good and you guys I was super excited because I got to use fresh um oregano from my garden so this dinner is pretty exciting for me all right so I’m just going to transfer these potatoes to the sheet pan that we just sprayed down so let’s do that okay we’ve got our potatoes laid out in a single layer and we’re about to pop these in the oven and roast them for 20 minutes and then we’ll come back and do the second step so let’s go this is the lemon sauce that was on the potatoes we are just going to pop this into a saucepan all right it’s been 20 minutes our chicken is done so we’re going to flip it over and then roast it for 25 more minutes so I already pre-made the salad dressing for the peach salad with candy pecans and cornbread croutons i’mma just keep it 100 with y’all i did not do the cornbread croutons i picked up some regular smgler Texas toast croutons just because I didn’t have any cornbread and there wasn’t anything that I needed to make cornbread for this week so we improvised here is the salad dressing it’s just been sitting in the refrigerator um but in the dressing is olive oil honey balsamic vinegar lemon juice shallot crushed red pepper flakes for you for me we don’t like spice so that’s not in mine kosher salt black pepper all of that is mixed up in here and I’m just going to put pop this back in the refrigerator until it’s time for dinner now the part that I have not done that we are going to do together is to make the candied pecans so let’s go so I have a dish lined with parchment paper in my pot I have brown sugar salt ground cinnamon omitted the cayenne pepper and I’m going to add the two tablespoons of water and bring this to a simmer [Music] that is boiling we are going to add the pecans to it so let’s go all [Music] right we’re going to let those cool and then we will break them apart for our salad when the time comes okay the timer for our potatoes has gone off we are going to stir in some garlic and then roast them for 30 more minutes better days when you’re here with me babe you’re all I Back in the oven for 20 to 30 minutes all right y’all the wings are done so we’re about to take them out and then we’re going to make the brown bourbon sauce they smell my house smells so good right now like so garlicky so flavorful oo I can’t wait to eat you know what I see so before I get over there in the brown bourbon sauce there is dark brown sugar bourbon soy sauce apple cider vinegar brown ginger cayenne pepper but y’all know you know I omitted it um garlic cloves and then we have butter that we have to put in it now so um I combined everything i’m just going to put it bring it to a boil and then let it cook for about 10 minutes and then take it off the heat and pop in the butter so let’s do that so this is what our sauce is looking like meanwhile our candy pecans have pulled chef’s kiss once this comes to a boil I’ll bring y’all [Music] back i just got a notification that the parentals are on live if y’all not already checking out All About the Banks make sure y’all head over there and say “Hey let them know they baby girl CeCe sent you.” Um but let’s see what they got going on on their live and then I’ll be right back all right so we’re going to add the wings to our sauce and then put it back in the oven for like 3 to 5 minutes [Music] we back in the oven and we almost done so yeah okay our potatoes are out the oven our chicken is out the oven i’m going to pop them on the plate the remaining sauce that was on the potatoes I just have it going over here on the stove on a low simmer we’re about to throw the feta on here and our parsley oh that looks so good just going to drizzle our sauce over these and then pop some rosemary sprigs on top if only you knew how long I’ve been waiting to make a salad with peaches because you know they don’t be in season all year round i even went to our orchards to check and see if the peaches there were ripe but they were not so Walmart for the win all right y’all it has been a lot it has been a long day in this kitchen but we’re at the salad so we are at the final point right i have four peaches sliced a half a red onion sliced a half of a tomato sliced and chopped i’m going to pop that into this bowl to this I’m going to add two tablespoons of our dressing that we made earlier and then I’m going to let it sit for a little bit while this is marinating I’m going to go ahead and wash up spinach and basil and I’ll see you guys when it’s time to put it all together and eat feels like the first time [Music] All right Gabe how was your food it was good what was your favorite thing i really like the chicken the chicken all right babe what’s your favorite so far i mean I had the salad really good the fries are good too i don’t know what kind of fries these are yeah Greek fries they’re really good i haven’t tried chicken yet but I know looking at you know testimony over there how was your food Tutie what was your favorite thing my favorite thing was chicken because it remind me of a movie it reminds you of a movie what movie it reminds me of Chicken Jock chicken Jockey I ain’t never heard of that movie all right y’all i’m finally sitting down to eat and let’s see now I did taste the fries earlier and they were good so let’s start there overall for everything Trudy gives it what you give it a nine out of 10 a nine out of 10 overall let me taste this chicken mhm [Music] busting all right let’s get into the salad i love a peach salad i’m a fan of barata i’m a fan of all the things in here so we going to see i got to search in here for one of these candy pecans so I have everything i’ll be right back all right Gabe what’s your rating a smooth eight out of 10 i just The food eight out of 10 overall yeah I didn’t like the salad cuz it had pecans in it i don’t like peans but if it didn’t have pecans on it if it wasn’t a salad you got to tell them that you don’t like salads cuz you around salad all day every day because
