I went to North Carolina from Texas for college and was going through a “welcome to campus” lunch line and when I got to the pulled pork bbq sandwich, I was asked by the server only this: “on, or on the side?” Confused and quiet she took pity on me and said “honey, you’re getting coleslaw – you want it on or on the side?” I said, “the way you’d have it ma’am” and I’ve been eating my pulled pork bbq sandwiches this way since.
Back in central Texas where beef is generally king but I do miss good pulled pork.
