Hello,

Wondering if someone can help me with understanding styles of Portuguese chicken. Asking in this subreddit because the four restaurants I'll cite are in the Toronto area.

I like Casa Portuguesa chicken the best – it's moist, not so spicy, great flavor. Does this kind of style have a particular name/designation?

Next, I like the Churrasqueira Costa Verde style second. This seems to be just seasoned chicken roasted over a flame, is somewhat drier given its cooking procedure, with optional piri piri sauce added on top afterwards if my memory is right. Casa Portuguesa's chicken seemed to not be sauced separately afterwards, but I didn't actually look at how they were cooked.

The two styles I didn't particularly like were Nando's and Red Rooster; the chicken has a dry reddish glaze surface for the flavor. I'm sure they are loved by some diners; I just prefer a different style/preparation.

If someone could list off some restaurants with chicken like Casa Portuguesa's in York Region (Richmond Hill, Markham, Vaughan) I should try, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you.
