Frank Abdnour is coming back to feed Peoria Heights.
The former owner of The Spotted Cow, Abdnour once said he was stepping back from business ownership. But in 2023, he opened a ghost kitchen focused on Italian beef sandwiches, operating out of a converted shipping container in the parking lot of local fine dining restaurant Connected.
Now, Abdnour is pursuing yet another business venture: a brick-and-mortar storefront. Frank’s: Home of Frank’s Famous Italian Beef, is set to open in August 2025 at 4408 N. Prospect Road, the former location of The Other Dawg.
The storefront will mark Abdnour’s return to Peoria Heights, where he expanded The Spotted Cow in 1987.
“It’s just kind of coming home to finish out my last chapter here,” Abdnour said.
When will Frank’s open?
A specific opening date will be announced “soon,” Abdnour wrote on Facebook. A website is also on the way.
What’s on the menu?
The restaurant will give a home to Abdnour’s popular sandwiches, offering Italian beef by the pound along with single sandwiches. Abdnour has yet to release a full menu, but told the Journal Star other sandwiches along with hot dogs will also be available. The menu will be limited, specializing in a few items.
What are the business hours?
Frank’s will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Only carryout will be offered, and while no dine-in options will be available, there will be outdoor tables for customers to eat nearby. The restaurant will also be near the Heritage Square Shopping Center, which includes a courtyard suitable for outdoor dining.
How can I place an order?
The ghost kitchen will continue accepting orders through Facebook Messenger until the storefront opens. All orders, even those placed prior to the opening, can be picked up at the new location at 4408 N. Prospect.
