I know this is a smoking group but since ribs or usually smoked/grilled, I just wanted to see if any has fried them like chicken.
This is not my first time doing it, but I just wanted to share and hear from others.

Aren’t they tough?

Try smoked and fried next time. I’ve done it with wings but not ribs. It’s the best of both worlds

Believe it or not? Straight to jail

Something was definitely being smoked.

OKC Smokehouse (edit: ***OMC*** Smokehouse, not OKC) in Duluth, MN makes smoked and fried ribs. I had them toss them in their hot chicken seasoning (edit: then i’d dip them in their Alabama white sauce! I could feel my blood thicken as I ate them 😂). Wasn’t super hot, but it was mind-blowingly good.
That’s just to say, I bet these are great lol.

This is a pretty engineering focused community because we strongly value replicability. We want to know ratios for your coating, your cook surface, your cooking vessel, your oil choice, your oil temp, and your times for this cook at the very least

Sir, I’m gonna have to ask you politely, but firmly to leave.

Season finale of BBQ Brawl?

Chef:
– They lined us up in front of 100 yards of prime rib. All of us lined up, looking at it.
– Next thing, they’re throwing the meat into these big cauldrons. All of it, boiling it.
– I looked inside, man. It was turning gray.

I’ve done this before as well. I had found a Filipino recipe where you deep fried ribs. In particular, you would also have the butcher cut them across the bone so they were tiny bone in rib chunks. Get yourself a side of garlic fried rice… absolutely delicious.

Is that allowed? I’ll try one
PlutoJones42
Would it be better to smoke/bake them for a bit and *then* fry?
Merely-a-Flesh-Wound
Its clear no one on here has watched BBQ brawl…. chicken fried ribs are a thing… this isn’t new.
SaintJimmy1
A few years ago Outback had some fried ribs and I didn’t think they were too bad.
Key-Market3068
I have them this way. Only thing I did was bake them first. Cut into individual bones, season then bake. Have heard of others Parboiling them. Then follow your steps for frying.
I started ~20 years ago cutting into single bones, seasoning then Browning them. And making a Jambalaya.
Background-Tax-1720
I’ve done this with country-style ribs. 10x better than porkchops!!
Chemical-Raccoon-137
I’d probably smoke them a bit first.. then batter and fry them
timeonmyhandz
I bet sous vide and then deep fried would be amazeballs…

Deep fried ribs at MN state fair. Actually amazing But yes, smoke then fry.

Lol I’m down voted for trying something different thats basically a fried pork chop. There are plenty of videos on YouTube u guys should take a look…
Everyone doing the same thing the same recipe over and over is lame… This is a great group of the same post I’m guilty of it as well… But the down votes are crazy/funny.
Also just like smoked then fried wings, smoking first would probably be good as well…
Car_wash_mechanic
Had this at a restaurant before. Not really something I’d want again unfortunately
sharewithyoux
Id smoke them to temp first and flash fry after.
GoCanes2468
Love fried ribs
Lurcher99
Smoked, then chicken fried, yes!!!
UnhappyGeologist9636
I’d be all over these. Fuck it id really piss off people and dip them in buffalo sauce.
WC47
Ooohh actually could be good. I had beef ribs that were braised then flash fried before and they were delicious so I can imagine if you smoked ribs then fried them they’d be equally as delicious
sonofherby
Fox Bros BBQ in Atlanta has a fried rib on their menu.

i just got off the phone with the FBI tip line, they found this threat credible and are writing a preliminary inquiry as we speak.
Silly_Sicilian
Really interesting! But, I can’t rap my head around what they might taste like???????

You’re getting a lot of hate here, which is completely unjust. In Cajun country (south Louisiana) ribs are often fried. You can find them on the menu everywhere.
Lot of folk here with a lack of culture, or understanding.
Audigitty
You should’ve smoked them first… let them cool, then coated and flash fried. Then you wouldn’t be going straight to jail.

I’ve had fried ribs once and it was incredible
ImaRaginCajun
Deep fried ribs are amazing. I first had them from a food truck at a festival as I had never heard of it before. I’ve done it a few times myself since. Just smoke them until about 3/4 done and then fry them.
CanComprehensive6112
These fried and coated in a smokey, sweet and sour sauce are slappin!
SeaDuds
I’m wondering… would sous vide-ing them then frying be viable?
drew-in-TX
I’ve had them fried, and they were delicious! The haters don’t know what they are missing!

I’ve done this before. This isn’t out of no where, they are done this way in at least some Asian countries. There was a restaurant/ballroom in Green Bay that closed years ago, Cliff and Ceil’s, that had pork ribs individually cut and breaded and they were my favorite food as a kid.
janted92
They look delicious! May try this next time
nirvandal09
I actually do this fairly often! I marinate them overnight in soy sauce with a butt load of grated garlic and black pepper before i fry them. My wife isn’t a big rib fan usually, but she goes to town on them when I cook them this way.
DatMonkey5100
I bet you if you smoked them 80% of the way cooked and then fried em they’d be even better
