hey y’all welcome to cira’s Kitchen y’all I am going to show you one of the most delicious easy and inexpensive soups that you can make all fall and winter long this is a delicious lentil soup that has maximum flavor and it’s so simple to put together even if you don’t like lentils I’m telling you you will love this recipe in the fall I am making bone br broth every single week because literally it cost $6 for two cups in the store and I just ain’t going to do it so I’ve made a broth with just some scra chicken B Scrap vegetables and 7 cups of water I put that on in my instant pot and then I just let that cook a few hours before I even started making soups now I love to use this brand of lentils because I just find that not only are they cheap which you know of course most lentils are cheap but I find that they don’t have a lot of stones or messed up lentil pieces and they’re not extremely dirty I am going to use a cup and a half of lentils however you could actually use two cups for this recipe it will just make it a little bit thicker I want my soup to be you know very loose but if you want that thicker consistency then just throw in two cups of lentils I’m going to pick out any that are bad but there’s really not that many because as I said I find that this brand tends to be very good the only time I tend to have really dirty pulses or beans is when I get them from the bulk band I find that they’re different you let me know if you’ve ever got any like lentils from like bulk bands and stuff I just feel like they’re a bit dirtier so I’m going to rinse these off really good and then I am just going to put water on these lentils and just let them sit at the side for about 15 minutes and soak while I prepare everything else for the soup now y’all I you y’all know I told y’all that I had those potatoes that was a little on the Rough Side baby I’m still going through them okay cuz the inside of them still good so I’m going to take two potatoes and then I’m going to cut them up on the smaller side because the lentils are tiny I feel like the vegetables shouldn’t be super large either everything just will cook a little more evenly if they’re not really big so I’m going to do like a medium small ice and I’m going to cover this up with water so that it doesn’t turn brown you have some flexibility here with whatever else vegetables you want to use I always use carrots this time of year the carrots are big they are very sweet I love them so I’m going to peel up two larger carrots they’re also going to add a nice sweetness to the soup I’m going to cut them again to that somewhat small dice because I want them to be a able to get soft within 30 minutes this is a quick cooking soup y’all okay you not going to be here all day doing this soup recipe now I want you to let me know in the comments what is your favorite soup of the Fall I actually love to eat soup for breakfast during the fall and winter believe it or not I feel like the bone broth really hydrates me and warms me up on a cold morning and so if I don’t have a soup that has a lot of meat in it I will actually have like a soup like this one um that’s not so meat heavy with like a few boiled eggs I’m so full I’m satisfied and I feel so warm let me know what you guys think of that do you ever have soup for breakfast during the fall now guys I have cut up some sweet peppers you can also use jalapenos um I just did not have that I also tossed in a few tomatoes and now look I know all of y’all don’t Dy with the swine but if you do four strips of bacon is going to up the flavor okay you don’t have to use bacon if you don’t play with the piggy wiggy then instead throw in some butter the butter is going to add a rich flavor and it’s going to taste great I’ve added my bacon to a cold Dutch oven and then let the bacon render its fat for a few minutes as the pan warmed up when the fat is mostly rendered I am going to put in the vegetables don’t worry about even taking the bacon out and toss in later M honey we ain’t doing all that this is an easy soup recipe okay now the only thing that I did not add up front was the garlic I’m going to allow the vegetables to sauté for about 4 minutes to get a little color on them and then I am going to put in four cloves of garlic I’ve already mined this garlic and I’m going to cook this for about 30 seconds when that smell just hits your nose you know what I mean that fragrance is just going throughout your kitchen that’s when you know it’s time to add the spices I going to use half a teaspoon of cumin now baby don’t get heavy-handed with no cumin okay that would throw this off okay it’s too earthy in my opinion all right unless you like a lot of earthiness then I’m going to add a teaspoon of oregano a half a teaspoon of dried thyme and a half a teaspoon of pepper then I’m going to add in all of the lentils and about 5 cups of the broth now I could have added it all right now but I was trying to gauge how much I wanted so you’ll see that I end up adding more of the broth later that fat you see on top of the soup that fat is from the bone broth okay I’m then going to add in some bay leaves as well as some chicken bullon also some salt there is no salt in that broth recipe okay and even though this is a bone broth the bullan just kind of amps up the flavor a little bit more if you don’t want to use bone broth of course you can just use water and then just add as much bullan as it takes to get the flavor that you like I love to add fresh thyme as well as one spicy pepper on top that’s optional it’s actually not going to make the soup spicy it’s just going to add a little bit of perfuming a bit of a kick I’m going to cover this and I’m going to have the heat on my stove on medium once it works its way up to a Simba baby then you cover that pot and you let this cook on low for 15 minutes then you are going to add the potatoes if you were to add the potatoes at the beginning it it’s just going to get way too soft okay so just let the potatoes cook 15 minutes to bump up that flavor baby I got to put in about A4 of a cup of cilantro I know some of y’all with the questionable taste buds will say the cilantro taste like soap which I don’t know how you got that but you could instead add some parsley I also just adjusted the soup for salt and pepper and then I covered this partially and allowed it to cook for 15 minutes at this point the potatoes should be soft and the lentils should be soft enough to crush easily with your fingers or the side of a utensil if you want your soup a little bit thicker you could take an immersion blender and just pulse it one or two times and that’ll break up some of the lentils to make it a bit less brothy however this is actually how I like my soup so you can just adjust everything to your preference you can reduce the broth or increase the lentils if you want to change the texture now to really make the flavor shine I don’t think this is optional I think you really need to do it add in a squeeze of lime you could use lemon but truthfully lie really is just the best when you mix this up you add some crackers or a little slice of bread this is a warming delicious soup that everyone in your family will love please let me know if you are going to make this recipe God bless you all for watching this channel I hope Jesus will bless you richly I thank you so much goodbye
