After many trials and hardships since starting seeds in January, I am quite impressed with how my peppers are coming along.

I started these in a wooden box with old windows and seed start heat mats to make a cold frame, then they graduated to my greenhouse where there was an aphid epidemic, so my husband stepped in to help me with spraying safer insect soap and against all odds they came through it although there were many casualties. Then it was keeping heaters and grow lights on them during spring snow and rain, and moving soil and pots to appropriate growing locations. Finally in June they were planted.

Lately the aphids have continued to try their luck, but I have purchased ladybugs which have been feasting on their children so they have been unsuccessful. A regular feeding of liquid kelp keeps my plants outgrowing the pace of the aphids, which are only existing to feed their rivals the ladybugs these days.
These are my Buena Mulata, Aji Christal, and Jalapeño Lemon Spice.
