It taste better than it looks but this plate of pasta is under 300 cals. I got veggies on the side for fiber and volume…very filling meals

    1.) Because a lot of them do keto or low carb
    2.) Because for many folks, pasta is “a food without brakes” so to avoid overeating it, they avoid eating it

    i loveeee spaghetti and i’ll make my own veggie-filled sauce and some special touches (some liquid from pickled pepperoncinis is one of my favorite additions) at least once a month. i’ll have two servings of it but not binge, and i think that’s just because i only eat whole grain spaghetti. whole grain spaghetti is superior in many ways

  8. While I like pasta and rice, they lack significant nutrients. For the same amount of calories, I can have a potato that is not only more nutritious, but more satisfying.

    Additionally, I’m really short (5’0” / 153 cms) so I have to make my calories count towards nutrition. That’s not to say I won’t eat pasta or rice, but I keep them as treats, rather than staples.

    Because it’s all carbs, delicious carbs , but carbs nonetheless. 

    It’s great for bulking season but I go without for roughly 6 months of the year.

    And truthfully I really want to only eat it in the winter anyway.

    It’s calorie-dense for very little nutrients. I still eat it, just not often. I throw my sauce on top of spaghetti squash.

  12. Because people don’t combine it with enough protein or fibrous side to fill up. They just go for endless pasta at Olive Garden.

    It’s also so cheap that people on a budget just get it to fill up on, then they’re hungry 2 hours later so they eat more of it.

    It doesn’t really have any nutritional value, and it’s carb and calorie heavy. Zoodles are so much better in every way.

    It isn’t in moderation. Neither is bread, rice, etc…I wouldn’t have them as staples anymore but having them on occasion is fine and disregard the food police in this group. Also worth noting that there are protein pastas that taste really good- only downside is they are hella expensive. 😭

  16. Cuz 2oz of pasta is like nothing and its 200 calories. My “normal” amount of pasta would be more like 6 to 8oz with meat and sauce, so I’d rather just not bother

    In moderation and not as the centerpiece of the meal it’s fine. I had a 400 cal lunch of a microwave garlic rotini + vegetables with jalapeño tuna mixed in and some grated Parmesan on top. The portion size is reasonable and there’s enough protein + water heavy low calorie things like the vegetables to fill me up and let me enjoy some pasta at the same time.

    If my pasta looked like that I could probably limit myself too. Otherwise, with a normal appetizing pasta dish, a serving is simply empty calories that does nothing for hunger long term.

  22. Personally I don’t eat it because I want to avoid simple carbs. I did however discover recently that my local shop has “protein” pasta made out of lentils, beans and other legumes and it’s pretty great. It’s high both in protein and fibre

    Banza pasta with ground turkey in tomato sauce is low calorie, high protein and will fill you up. I usually zucchini or some other veggies to it to round it out.

    I find integrating pasta into a small part of a dish is great but there is no way to eat a pasta-focused dish unless you plan on eating way over your calories

    Because it is high calorie for little volume and because the insulin spike from the carbs spikes your hunger later on and makes you wanna eat more.

    Idk I love pasta bolognese-style, with plenty of lean protein (lean beef or turkey), vegs and sauce. It’s filling and delicious and a huge plate is about 400 kcal

    Pasta simultaneously makes me feel heavy, empty, and sick, not sure why but it’s not worth feeling like that until breakfast or lunch the next day

    Because no one can stop eating it, however I eat it after a salad and at night as my last meal and I portion out the pasta so I don’t make a big dish. I just make one bowl that has the amount of calories etc. that I need therefore once it’s done it’s done but after the salad and that I’m usually a super full.

    Can’t believe no one’s said “because garlic bread” yet. Because I simply cannot have pasta without a large portion of garlic bread to go with.

    I agree that pasta itself isn’t generally the issue. What people put on and in it is. It’s also not very satiating, so people tend to overeat.

    Pasta is a great vessel for veggies and protein if you stick to a serving size

    Everyone is different but personally I can’t eat that w/o gaining
