TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – I love to cook, but sometimes I get bored with making the same old things; I bet you do, too. Going out to eat or picking up drive-thru food every day is a bad idea for the bank account as well as for the body, so instead, here’s a round-up of some of our recent recipes on East Texas Kitchen, plus a few throwbacks, for you to choose from as you make your grocery list.
To start with, here’s an ice-cold drink to enjoy; there’s no alcohol, so it will hydrate you on the hottest day: Mama Steph’s ctirus mock-arita
If you’re grilling, there are lots of ideas on the East Texas Kitchen app for you to try. Here’s one for beef kabobs, and another for grilled steak and watermelon salad.
If pasta salad is your thing, this one is so easy and delicious, and can be ready quickly: it’s my broccoli-pesto pasta salad.
Our friend Robbie from Bear Creek Smokehouse showed me how to make a delicious twist on egg salad: Avocado-egg salad. I loved it!
Finally, two kind of throwback recipes you might want to try for dessert. They’re easy, cold and scrumptious!
No-bake creamy berry pie andBanana pudding ice cream
The ice cream is by my friend Stewart Smith; I’ll add the video so you can watch easily. I’m making this for my family this weekend. It’s truly amazing.
Enjoy, and stay cool!
Make sure to join Mama Steph and guests every Tuesday during the news at Midday, and every Friday during the news at 5 p.m.
