Put a pound of sausage in a pot. Cook it up. Chop it up. About three tablespoons of bacon grease. Make a little well in the center. We’ll put 1/4 cup of flour. Stir that in. Brown it for a little while. We’ll come back to you when it’s once your flour is good and brown. Add three cups of milk. Stir it in till it’s thick. Once it gets good and thick, add a little salt. Whole bunch of pepper. Turn your heat off. That’s great granny’s recipe right there, son. Don’t get no better than that.

  1. I like to get my sausage slightly crisped/seared, it really makes the gravy taste exponentially better, but everything else is nearly the same.

  2. Add a touch of dry thyme, dry sage a pinch of chili flakes and a smidgen of brown sugar. Simmer for 15 minutes or so on low. Finish off the heat with a small squeeze of lemon juice and it’s sublime.

  3. I would advise to add just a little bit more seasoning. Other than that perfect recipe👍🏽👍🏽

  4. Bro, this whole time I’ve been spending all this money on biscuits and gravy, and that easy to make 🤦‍♂️

  5. I ate a lot of biscuits and gravy as a kid locked up in juvenile facilities. It’s so hard to find as an adult where I live. I tried a few and they’re all mediocre.

  6. Only thing I do different, one small onion chopped up & tablespoon of minced up garlic, put the onion in with the sausage while it is cooking 🧄😋

  7. If you do not trust this process. Take the same measurement of flour and mix it into 1 cup of your milk and mix it, making a slurry. Add slurry and brown it till the flour taste is cooked out and then add the other 2 cups of milk.
