Houston – Create a good spritz balancing sweet, bitter and bubbly. National Spritz Day is today but in Italy spritz it is part of their everyday life and is considered their happy hour. When it comes to choosing a spritz its is important to consider the the foundation of your drink which is your prosecco. Aperol is bright and citrusy, while Campari is bolder and more bitter, it is all about preference.
Tavola Italian Restaurant located in Post Oak near the Galleria is known for their menu that celebrates the rich culinary Italian traditions with their dishes inspired by diverse regions.
Within the last year spritz has gained recognition in the U.S. ,Tavola’s lead bartender Tristan Rutherford stopped by studio B and shared one of their spritz recipes that can be created at home. Sip Sip!
Fiore Mio
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Aqua Perfecta Basil Brandy – 1.75 oz
St Germain Elderflower Liqueur – 0.75 oz
Soda Water – 0.5 oz
Prosecco Cordiali – 2 oz
Garnish – Basil leaf
DIRECTIONS:
Start off with a wine glass of your choice, make sure to fill it with three-quarters of ice.
Pour in order the Aqua Perfecta Basil Brand, followed by the Germain Elderflower liqueur and soda water into your ice filled wine glass, topping things off with the Prosecco.
Stir around for no longer than 10 seconds, making sure the drink is well mixed without causing friction leading to a watered down drink.
Once done take the basil leaf and place it standing up in the drink, add a straw of your choice for sipping.
