I am completely devastated. I’m doing these cookies for a friend as a favor (so I’m not even getting paid for them), and after spending dozens of hours, color bleed has ruined half of them. It’s my first time using an edible pen and I didn’t realize how much it would bleed. I feel so burnt out and heartbroken because I put my whole heart into this set and they’re basically ruined.
Pics 9-11 show the Polaroid pictures before the color bleed affected them.

we are our own worst critics, and no one else is going to criticize the color bleed, because they probably won’t even notice it. these look fantastic and you should be so proud of yourself, because WOW!
Excellent work 👏
I’m gonna be honest, I’m a cookier and can’t even tell
Next time, apply cornstarch on top of areas you painted directly or used an edible pen 🙂
I had to really search for what you think are imperfections. I just thought most of them were some shading. I honestly don’t think people are even going to notice anything. Please be proud of yourself.
We are often harder on ourselves than anyone else will be. Even as someone who understands (and has experienced!) colour bleed, I have to say I didn’t even notice. In the areas where I can see it after a second look, it honestly just looks like a stylistic choice. They look absolutely beautiful.
You’re still very good. We judge ourselves too hard sometimes. Things happen & we just move on.
The only reason I could find anything of note was because you mentioned it, honestly. If you hadn’t said color bleed I’d be squealing about how cute these are and how talented YOU are – which I’m still gonna do because they are, and you are!
Please be gentle with yourself! They are masterpieces and any “imperfections” are just proof it’s hand done, not machine cranked!
And keep cookie-ing 💗
I was recently at a wedding where the cake said “just married” in black (on white) and it bled soooo much. I decided right then and there that if the design was completely recognizable with the color bleed that it DID NOT MATTER.
Yes, you can always aim for no bleed, but if you have to zoom to see it, it aint a problem!
I’m not sure what you’re even talking about?
Color bleed or no color bleed I’d still eat them
Take a deep breath, and step away from the cookies. Don’t panic, they are still fabulous.
I see the difference because you showed us the before.
But if I had never seen the before I would think they were meant to look like a watercolor painting.
I think they are beautiful just the way they are. Embrace the “mistake”.
They don’t look wrong. They just don’t look the way you planned.
I think they look lovely! It looks like you purposefully did this illustration style, almost like watercolor.
I don’t see any color bleed.
I worked in pastry for almost a decade and they look completely fine to me lol
Those are so beautiful! I was really passing the pictures expecting the ruined cookies but nah they all look great.
These look incredible! I would be so happy to receive these for my party. What a good friend you are.
I initially thought these are watercolor painting style cookies and thought you nailed it. Who’s going to notice any problem? They are stunning!!
They still look great to me !
No one is going to notice. It just looks like some shading.
