I love Italian markets! But I’ve been slow to check out one on Taylor Avenue that’s been getting rave reviews since it opened last year. I met a friend for lunch this week at Vincenzo’s Mercato at 1580-Taylor and let me tell you, it was fantastic! Already well-known for its catering, Vincenzo’s has also become one of Winnipeg’s most popular spots for grab and go meals. But I have to focus in on the amazing sandwich that I had at the restaurant in Vincenzo’s on Wednesday. Say hello to the Panino Portafoglio! It’s basically a pizza crust, folded in half, then freshly baked to perfection and filled with your favourite meats, cheeses and toppings from Italy. You have to try it! You can check out the full menu at VincenzosMercato.ca.

OZZY OSBOURNE BURRITO
Devoted fans of Ozzy Osbourne have launched a petition at Change.org, urging Chipotle to create a signature burrito named “The Ozzy” to honour the iconic rocker. The petition has already garnered thousands of signatures, reflecting Osbourne’s well-known affinity for Chipotle burritos. During the run of his family’s reality TV show, “The Osbournes,” he openly admitted to consuming up to two Chipotle burritos per day, even dubbing himself “The Burrito Man.” C’mon, Chipotle… do it! Rest in peace, Ozzy…

NEW PIZZA MAC & CHEESE
Kraft is combining two comfort food classics in one box with the release of its new limited-edition Pizza flavour. The new variety blends the brand’s signature creamy noodles with bold tomato, garlic and Italian herbs, reminiscent of a slice of pizza. This follows previous launches like Everything Bagel and Smoky Barbecue. Early tasters say it delivers on both aroma and flavour.
DIET SODA = HEALTH RISKS
Reaching for a diet soda might come with unexpected health risks, according to a new Australian study. Researchers found that drinking just one artificially-sweetened soft drink daily can increase your chances of developing type 2 diabetes by 38%. And weirdly, that’s even higher than the 23% risk tied to full-sugar sodas. The 14 year study tracked over 36,000 adults.

EGGS & YOUR PERSONALITY
A new study by the British Egg Industry Council suggests that your favourite way of eating eggs may predict personality traits. The study surveyed over 1,000 UK adults and found correlations between egg choices and lifestyle factors. For example, fans of poached eggs tend to be outgoing and extroverted, while those who prefer boiled eggs are more likely to be disorganized and impulsive, with a higher risk of divorce. Fried egg lovers are described as creative and curious, while scrambled egg enthusiasts are typically childless professionals with lower levels of neuroticism. Omelette fans are seen as well-organized and reliable, with lower divorce rates.
