3 bratwurst sausages $3
2 cups sauerkraut (drained, and rinsed once) $1.49
1/2 onion, finely chopped $0.33
2oz of glass noodles (Mung bean vermicelli) $0.5
Seasoning: Salt & pepper to taste
🍳 Let’s Cook — Chef Jeff Style
Step 1 Cook the Onion
Fire up a pan over medium-high heat. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil, Toss in your chopped onion. Stir until it’s soft, sweet, and just starting to think about turning golden — about 3–4 minutes.
Step 2 Bring on the Kraut
Add in the sauerkraut (rinsed once to mellow out the strong sourness and saltiness and mix it all together. Let it sizzle and mingle with the onions for 5 minutes, stir occasionally.
Step 3 Cook the Brat: At the same time, Grill bratwursts on a saucepan with 1 tbsp of oil, turn the brats every 30 sec until all sides are golden.
Step 4. Time for the Main Event
Bury your bratwursts right in that kraut-onion bed. Add 1 cup of hot water and simmer medium low heat for Cover with a lid and let them steam and sizzle for 10–15 minutes, check internal temp of the bratwurst – Port or beef sausage 145°F 63°C. Add water soaked glass noodles, simmer 5 more minutes, and serve.
