The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj, stated today that the Albanian Government aims to build a consortium for olive oil, uniting 50 farmers and oil producers in an Albanian brand.
In a meeting with local municipal authorities in Berat, representatives of the olive oil business and technical experts from the World Bank, Denaj said that the creation of the “Berati 2400 Years” olive oil consortium was discussed.
According to Denaj, this is a funding from the Albanian Government, which aims to unite 50 olive and olive oil producers in the Berat district and surrounding areas. “The objective is to create an Albanian brand for one of the most indigenous products, a valuable, quality and united production,” said Denaj.
Minister Denaj said that concrete steps were also shared at this meeting to strengthen agricultural cooperation throughout Albania, with 5 pilot municipalities for similar consortia in the regions of Fier, Gjirokastër, Elbasan, Lezhë and Vlorë. “A model of cooperation between local government and farmers to strengthen the rural economy, overcome individual production and guarantee greater access to financing and income for farmers,” she continued.
Denaj highlighted that attendees also focused on the National Investment Scheme 2025, whose applications are open until September 30 for investments in the agricultural sector with 9 support measures.
