Coonawarra wines will be in the spotlight this month as its producers hit the road for the annual Coonawarra Wine Tasting Roadshow.
Held in major centres across the east coast of Australia and Adelaide, the event series will see up to 24 Coonawarra producers travelling from the famed terra rossa soils of Coonawarra in regional South Australia, to bring wine lovers the best of the wine region.
Celebrating 22 years in 2025, the Coonawarra Wine Tasting Roadshow has become a hallmark of the Australian wine calendar.
Since its inception in 2003, the event has seen over Coonawarra 15,000 wines poured at 120 showcases across the country and enjoyed by over 30,000 wine enthusiasts nationwide.
The 2025 metropolitan tour will include tasting events in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney, and for the second consecutive year Noosa in Queensland.
This tour follows a successful regional Victorian roadshow showcase this past June, which achieved sold out events in Ballarat, Geelong, Hamilton and Warrnambool.
Coonawarra Vignerons Events and Marketing Manager Heidi Guyett said, backed by a close-knit community of passionate producers from multi-generational family wineries to innovative new players, the roadshow continues to champion the depth, diversity and distinction of Coonawarra wines.
“The Coonawarra Wine Tasting Roadshow is a fantastic opportunity to connect directly with our winemakers,” she said.
“There’s something special about meeting the people behind the wines – hearing their stories, learning about vintages, and discovering the character that makes Coonawarra so unique.
“Attendees can expect not just to be served by wine reps, but in most instances, the winemaker and/or owners and family members of the brand. Consumers and wine trade can therefore interact at a more intimate level to ask questions about the wines and the technical aspects of the wine making process and cellaring etc.”
Fourth generation winemaker at Redman Wines Dan Redman will exhibit at the east coast events, presenting Redman’s latest releases and looks forward to the interaction with wine lovers, providing an overview of what attendees can expect.
“The wineries of Coonawarra really embrace the opportunity to present our product to a national audience of consumers and trade in their home states,” Mr Redman said.
“We (the Redman Family) love connecting directly with our consumers and trade partners- fostering relationships and establishing new ones along the way.
“For attendees, it’s a great way to get a snapshot of the current wine styles across Coonawarra and meet the people behind your favourite wines, while discovering some new ones.”
Coonawarra is synonymous with premium red wines, iconic brands and a rich history of wine making dating back to 1895. Attendees will be spoilt for choice with anywhere between 120 and 160 wines featuring on the wine lists at the varying events with a great range of varieties and styles up for tasting.
Ms Guyett said the wine list will include an extensive range of red wines, including Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon for which it is most famously known, along with an impressive selection of Coonawarra’s white varieties.
“The cool climatic conditions of the Coonawarra Wine Region make for outstanding white wines that are crisp and aromatic. From Riesling to Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris – there will be something for every wine lover – sparklings included,” she said.
The wines presented at the 2025 Wine Tasting Roadshow will feature releases from the highly regarded and consistent vintages of 2018-2025, with wineries encouraged to bring along a mystery bottle, typically a back vintage or museum wine, to demonstrate the age-ability of Coonawarra’s reds.
One of the standout events of the 2025 Roadshow is set to take place in Sydney on August 31, with Coonawarra Wine Region taking to the water aboard the luxurious Starship Sydney on the Sydney Harbour. Traditionally held on a weeknight, organisers are revitalising the experience this year with a relaxed Sunday afternoon session, pairing iconic views with iconic wines.
“We are super excited to bring a fresh take to our Sydney showcase,” Ms Guyett said.
“A Sunday afternoon cruise on Sydney Harbour, matched with incredible wines and conversations with our winemakers – we cannot think of a better way to experience Coonawarra in the city.
“Guests can sip and swirl their way through the region’s finest drops while cruising past the Opera House and Harbour Bridge – making it a truly unforgettable way to experience Coonawarra in the city.”
Tickets for the complete roadshow event series are on sale now and in high demand with 50% of tickets pre-sold across all states.
