Bought a Precision Cooker in 2022. They replaced it under warranty in Jan 2024 after the first unit failed. That replacement just died mid-cook, August 2025.
At the time, their warranty said coverage was two years from the date the product is received. I have a screenshot of it. Now that language is gone from their site. Support says I’m out of warranty and points to the new version.
They changed their terms to avoid honoring coverage. It’s still cached on Google searches, lol. I’m done with them.
Anyone have a recommendation for another sous vide?

Thank you for your picture post to r/souvide. We want to remind everyone of Rule #5. Posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is encouraged.
If you’ve posted a picture of something you’ve prepared, please explain why in a comment so people can have some sort of conversation. Simply dropping a picture of food in the sub isn’t really fostering any discussion which is what we’re all aiming for.
Posts that are a picture with no discussion can and will be removed by the mods.
Thank you!!

Not at all surprising, given their other antics. I refuse to support them any further. Such a shame because they were once an innovative and promising company. I guess they followed the path of most growing companies and stopped giving a shit about their customers
This is why statutory warranties (like here in Australia) are so awesome.
I bought an Inkbird when my ancient Anova kicked the bucket. The Inkbird is quieter, has a much longer cord and works just fine. Also about half the price and no shenanigans with making you pay for the app.
I cross posted this to the Louis Rossmann subreddit. He goes to town over this happening.
This is not how warranties work. You don’t get a perpetual new warranty for replacements.
If the replacement fails within the *original* warranty then it’ll get replaced as well, but the warranty doesn’t restart.
If you received your original order in mid 2022, then your 2 years is up mid 2024 full stop. There’s no warranty renewal.
If 2 have failed for you in a 3 year period, then stop using their horrible product but your warranty was over mid 2024.
Never heard of warranties being extended with a replacement unit. Across almost industries and products it’s typically still through the initial warranty period only
You don’t get a new warranty on the replacement product. Your warranty is still on the original product, so it would have started when you received the original product, and not restarted when you reviewed your replacement.
Regardless on the language change, it’s the same. Your warranty started when you received the OG unit, just because you claimed under the warranty, does not mean a new warranty was started on that replacement, you are still on the OG warranty which expires 2 years after you received the OG unit.
Just buy a new one and send in the old one ¯\*(ツ)*/¯
What I see there doesn’t say replacements will have a 2 year warranty. I also don’t see that in their docs, the 2 years I see is tied to the “initial” purchase. Which is how I think most companies do warranties. Some might give you a separate shorter one for a replacement, but I don’t think many would give a full new warranty.
That being said, good luck with your next one!
Yeah so you’re in the wrong here. You don’t get a new warranty after they replaced your unit.
Warranties are from the date of purchase. A replacement device provided under warranty doesn’t restart the warranty period.
Just about every company operates this way
Unless otherwise indicated, a warranty only applies to the original purchase of the original product. Any replacement remains covered by the warranty from the original purchase date until it expires. In this case it expired on June 6, 2024.
Just to be clear, you did NOT get a new 2 year warranty with your replacement unit. The warranty continued to cover the replacement until June 6th, 2024 at which point it expired.
You have misunderstood how the warranty works in a very typical way. Many people fall under the impression that if you get a replacement unit, you also get a replacement warranty. Unless specifically stated, this is NOT the case.
I’m sorry this isn’t what you want to hear, and I have made a similar mistake in the past.
Warranties are usually tied to the initial purchase date, which is the date on your receipt.
Your warranty replacement is covered by your original receipt.
Anova did nothing wrong.
I’m sorry for those of you who are new to the sub, but anyone who saw what they did with their app and bought one anyway should have known better.
Ignoring for the moment how warranties work, but on the topic of alternative manufacturers: is there a manufacturer out there who has decent repair parts available? ANOVA doesn’t seem to supply anything that is actually likely to break (and their prices are stupid: $25 for the rubber end cap on the clamp screw? GTFO).
Unfortunately, very few consumer product manufacturers are any better. I don’t currently need a new sous vide, but if someone out there has good parts availability, they will absolutely get my next purchase.
Yea that’s not how warranties work. They are correct and you are wrong. A replacement doesn’t restart the warranty, how would that make any sense? If that was the case you could deliberately break something or say it doesn’t work and forever get a new one
You thought you found some infinite replacement loop or something?
OP there’s still time to delete this post
Ya you’re in the wrong here. You don’t get a new warranty with a replacement. I don’t know any company that has ever done this.
Best reviewed is the Joule.
I keep telling myself I’ll get a good one when my Gourmia GSV138 dies but it’s been 5 1/2 years and still going. Looking forward to the bells and whistles but can’t give up on it when it isn’t giving up on me!
The verbiage on Anova’s site wasn’t clear. One can interpret that they mean the replacement unit received but warrantied generally apply to the original purchase date. It’s unfortunate your Anova lasted for less than 2 years.
That said, my original Anova died about 8 years after I bought it. The Nano lasted about 6 years. Now I use generic sous vide machines. For $40, I couldn’t care less if it dies after a few years. Which was how much I paid for a couple of Monoprice units a couple years ago. Also picked up an Anova mini earlier this year when it was on sale for $38 @ Walmart.
As long as it circulates water and holds heat well, brand doesn’t matter.
