Went to Polvos on S 1st for the first time in quite some time and was in utter shock with the prices…$30 for a chicken breast!? $30 for fajita salad!? $31 for a shrimp or fish entree which is usually tilapia!? $7 for a single taco!? $9 for a single fish taco!? $44 w/tip for 2 frozens and mexi-mart!? I used to frequent but prices seriously jumped and last night felt like ok well i know its going to be a little higher than I want and the food is delicious…but did not expect this jump! I don't know if they aren't getting business and need to jack up the prices further or if they are just catching up to fine dining mexican restaurants after maybe testing prices at the downtown location? S 1st location just doesn't scream best mexican restaurant ambiance and we just couldn't do it and relocated to Maudies where they have a mahimahi power bowl for like 18$ and all day Monday HH. I was really sad about leaving Polvos ( I'm just really sad in general lately about eating out in Atx). Reward/loyalty points desperately needed with these kind of prices. HopDoddy and Tumble22 have some of the best rewards IMO which keep me going…but it would be nice to have some variety. I do see they opened another location at barton creek with specials, so maybe there is hope for me to have their food again soonish!

Anyway long story short I guess what I'm getting at is am I the saddest Atx mexican food story!? Any favorite reward programs around to lighten me up?
