indian food might be my favorite cuisine on planet earth and this 30 minute one pot dahl is delicious and satisfies that craving for sure into a pot set over medium heat we’re going to add 1 tbsp of olive oil 1 tbsp of butter and 3 teaspoon of cumin seeds let those toast up a little bit don’t let them burn next in two thinly sliced onions then we’re going to add in five cloves of minced garlic an inch and a half of minced ginger and about 1/4 cup of cilantro stems all diced up mix that all together then we’re going to add in the spices radian 1 tsp of turmeric 2 tesps of garam masala 1 tsp of chili powder and then we’re going to add in about a cup and a/4 of red lentils 400 g of diced tomatoes about one can of coconut milk and a/2 cup of water mix that all together and let it come up to a simmer and let it cook away until the lentils are soft it takes about 20 minutes and that’s really it i add in two teaspoons of salt the juice of a lime and a handful of fresh cilantro this is super delicious satisfying makes great meal prep you can freeze that as well make it and follow along for more approachable

I have always made dhal with yellow lentils which we call 'split peas' in Trinidad… But I am definitely going to try this🎉
Making it now, lid or no lid on the simmer? Let it cook "away" makes me think… no lid? ❤
