$28 sandwich. When you are eating it, worth every penny. I miss NYC.

I ordered this on Goldbelly for my birthday, last year, and I have no regrets! Man that looks good!!

I just got the pastrami at Tommy’s Joint here in San Francisco and it made me miss Katz’s even more…

Did you order double meat?? I went last test and my sandwich wasn’t nearly as big.

Was it dry like the time I went?

I wish they’d upgrade the bread.

Reminds me of my pilgrimage to Katz. It was my first time in NYC. I was oblivious to how far things actually were, so I figured when I was uptown, Katz was like a $5/5 minute ride from where I was. 45 minutes later I arrived to a line wrapped around the block after paying the cab ~35. I remember talking to folks in line who were all excited. I finally got inside, it smelled delicious, and the place was exactly as you’ve probably seen on T.V. just packed with employees trying to get people in and out fast. Handed over the ~$40 for my order, and walked outside. I debated for a minute on if I should find somewhere to sit and eat, or take the ride back and eat where I was working. There really wasn’t anywhere good to sit so I just hailed another cab to pay the $35 ticket back to where I was. I sat in the cab thinking about the sandwich I’d just paid about $100 for, thinking about it getting cold while I rode in the cab, and having reservations about eating in the cab. I decided I’d have at least one fresh bite, so I opened the bag, peeled back the wrapper, looked with glee at the glistening juices on the beautiful sandwich. Just as I was about to take a bite, the cab stopped abruptly at a light, which caused me to look out the window. There, about 6 feet away was a bum laying on a bench near central park furiously masturbating in the open staring right back through the window at me. I rewrapped the sandwich and decided I’d wait on lunch.

I always get two extra slices of rye bread to make two sandwich’s that you can get your mouth around.

I like Juniors better overall, but Katz still has the best pastrami though

I spend $100+ ordering pastrami from Katz online store and it’s totally worth it.
