Cold noodles on another scorching day definitely hit the spot. Raku on Queen West at Augusta has a cold udon noodle section on their menu. I usually get the buta shabu with grilled pork belly with a sesame based dipping sauce. Today I tried the kani maze ($26). Plenty of crab meat along with roe and crab essence in the light yet umami laden sauce. And, as usual, Raku’s silky yet stretchy noodles never miss. Their pork gyoza is also a must get. The nicely seared wrapper is so thin yet holds the juicy and delicious filling without breaking. Need to check out the other cold udon options.
