11 bucks a pound, i picked up this massive pack of short rib for 60 bucks! Costco wont even sell me a pack of ribeyes for less than 24 a pound these days. Admitadely the bottom ones were a little fatty through the center but at 11 a pound i couldn't care less!

And the marbling! Where do they get there beef? Just waiting for someone to tell me its all a lie and the meat is fake lol.

(Also, extra bones on the side are for drinking snacks later, as i seperated the meat from them for black top searing later, they didnt come that way haha)

That usually what short rib looks like everytime ive seen it.

These are short ribs cut crosswise meant for Korean bbq, this is not the same as a ribeye

$11/lb for short rib isn’t cheap. I think they look pretty nice though.

  5. Spiral_out_was_taken

Just because it’s marbled doesn’t mean its like wagyu. It’s a cheap cut of beef.

If you’re in the Portland area, the Asian markets on 82nd (fubon, etc) have excellent beef for like 60% what even Fred Meyers sells for. Much more intramuscular fat, but generally smaller cuts and things intended for soups

We have one that gets some cuts from snake river….yummmmm

  8. Bbwlover11119

I don’t think that’s a deal at all. Considering they are super thin and most of the fat will render? You’re then left with a piece of meat equal to a slice or two of bacon….

You buy non graded beef in bulk lots

Average cost for short rib. I’ve gotten short rib from my local butcher for $9.99/lb

We sell lots of those at Costco but they come from lots of different Vendors so the quality can vary dramatically. I’ve seen some thick ones with almost Wagyu marbling and others that were super thin and lean. All same price so ya just have to see what we have at any given time.

When I say thick or thin I’m talking about the meat hight above the bone not the thickness of the slices.

Great looking short ribs, but as mentioned by others, short rib and ribeye aren’t the same.  $24/lbs at Costco is Prime ribeye/NY strips.  I do love H Mart for proteins, but sometimes short rib can be had for even less $11/lbs.

costco sells the boneless version of these at 12 a pound where im at.

  14. fatogato

It looks nice but that’s too much fat. Grill those up and you’ll have mostly fat left

  15. Seanspicegirls

Great find. Now cut it up into kbbq

  17. moldibread

thats some seriously nice looking korean style ribs.

  18. BaetrixReloaded

H-Mart all things considered is pretty expensive in terms of their meat prices

  19. Longjumping-Title-86

    Damn, that bacon’s thick!

  20. Carbon_Based_Copy

You’re losing 35% of the cook because all that fat will render. Tiny pieces. Tiny prices.

  21. RNSsports

Where do you live where $11/lb is cheap for short rib? Lol

  22. Truestorydreams

Those cuts look so good. OP update later

  23. Accomplished_Gas3922

H-Mart is coming to my area soon, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. There’s a store in close comparison I get my ramen and bulk seasonings from, but their beef isn’t great and the price is worse.

Happy dinners to you OP this looks delicious

  24. Island-Kush

Cheap! that ain’t cheap that’s expensive. I remember back in early 2000s in 99ranch they used to go for 99cent pd. That’s why I stopped buying them to expensive for the amount of meat you get in them

  25. harrybaggaguise

This needs to be used for Korean style short ribs over long slow braise in my opinion. This would make some amazing kalbi!

  26. ApprehensiveFix2160

How do you Cook em when they this thin?

  27. BreakPotential5802

As someone who has bought these routinely. $11/is pretty standard price. That’s not expensive or cheap. Also depending where you get them from sometimes it’s a bad deal cause there is so much fat. You cook these bulgogi style and sometimes it’s like 70 percent meat/30 fat which is disgusting

  28. OG_Dadditor

Those are beautiful, I’m incredibly jealous right now.

  29. DrunkenPunk_ESQ

I got American wagyu 123a shortribs from Costco for $12.50/lb. The sliced ones they had looked similar or a little more fatty than the ones in the picture.

  30. sidlives1

H-mart is not cheap. Take a look at their ox tails.

  31. klee1113

Hmart hides their trash cuts under prime cuts to trick you.. it’s like this in the marinated short ribs box too

They also hide trash pcs of salmon under the stickers too
