CAVA, known for its spicy meatballs, steaks, and harissa chicken, celebrated the opening of its latest Alabama restaurant this week as it continues to expand within the state. The Mediterranean chain has restaurants in 29 states. Alabama alone has 10 locations, with two in Montgomery — one on Zelda Road and the other on Eastchase Parkway.

The location on Eastchase Parkway opened last summer, and just recently joined the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce to “get their roots into the community.”

CAVA was founded in 2010 by three lifelong friends — Ike Grigoropoulos, Dimitri Moshovitis, and Ted Xenohristos — who are the children of first-generation immigrants. The brand’s mission is to emphasize ”heart health and humanity to food” and highlight the cultural significance of Mediterranean food.

The restaurant offers customizable bowls and pita wraps.

“The healthy choices and everything being fresh really make this,” said Peter Kirkpatrick, the general manager of CAVA in Eastchase. “The only thing we don’t make fresh daily is the dips, it’s a great healthy choice.”

CAVA is located at 7801 Eastchase Pkwy and operates both a drive thru and mobile ordering. Its hours are 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily.
