I inherited a Green Egg from my father in law. My first attempt to use it and I’m trying to smoke fish. I’m looking at the vent recommendation guide, in order to maintain 225 temperature, I should have the top vent slightly open and the same for the bottom vent.

However, with the tab on the bottom vent, I can’t close the bottom vent to have less that a 1” opening. The support leg is in the way preventing me from closing anymore.

Is this right or was this assembled incorrectly?

  1. Pick the thing up and spin it slightly away from the leg, has nothing to do with being built improperly.

  2. Pick up the egg and rotate it so the entire stainless steel portion is exposed between the cart support. You’ll be able to move it then

Yeah it’s in the stand wrong. Pick it up and turn it in the stand. The crossbar on the bottom that is in the front should be in the back.

It’s backwards. Pull it out over the screws on the right of the vent and then turn it around so the tab goes in first. However, you’re real problem is that the egg needs to turn a few inches counterclockwise in the next so the tab doesn’t catch on the leg

It needs to be rotated in the base to the right.

It looks like it just needs to be lifted and set back into the stand at a different angle. I have the same setup. So, shift to the left?

Not properly seated in the nest. Do over.
