This is a flake steak and I tried making three different versions of it to see which is the best. First, I used a $6 pico steak and sliced it into thin strips. The type of steak you use is entirely up to you. Just make sure you cut it against the grain. Then cut those strips into squares and stack them on a skewer. To cook this, you reverse sear it in a 250°ree oven until the meat is about 110° internal and then sear it on a pan or a grill. I also wanted to see if this would be better with Wagu steak, so I did the same process using some A5 Wagu. And the demons inside me also forced me to make a grilled cheese version by layering cheese and bread. So today we’re finally answering the question that’s been keeping you up at night. Which is better, a $6 steak, a $100 steak, or a grilled cheese sandwich? And in this case, it is literally a grilled cheese sandwich because I did actually cook these on the grill, which got a little spicy at some points. Once they were done cooking, I tried them all on their own at first. And if you’re somebody who likes a good crust on a steak, this is definitely something for you. It had a nice crisp edge, but still very tender in the middle. That being said, the only time I could see this being the best way to make a steak would be if you’re dipping them in a sauce like a chimmy cherry because the flakes grab sauce so well. Oh, and I’m actually going to pick the $6 steak as my winner
