An Italian restaurant in the heart of Old Town has closed for the month of August, as the spot wishes diners and residents a happy summer.
Atmosfera, on High Street, has informed diners that it has closed until the end of the month while staff take the opportunity to enjoy the summer.
A hand-written note, posted on the inside of the restaurant window, reads: “We will be closed from the 6th August and will reopen on Friday the 29th of August. Happy summer holidays! Atmosfera.”
Everyone needs a break, and the establishment’s closure is only temporary – however, Atmosfera’s summer hiatus looks set to deprive town residents of one of the top dining spots.
As reported by this paper earlier in the year, the restaurant was hailed by none other than Marco Pierre White, who in a visit to the spot called it “sensational”.
In a video posted on his personal Instagram page, Marco appeared alongside restaurant owner and “old friend” Felice and commended the selection of cheeses as well as the salumi and calamari.

He singled out the restaurant’s mix of linguine and seafood as being “sensational”, and remarked “I don’t remember the last time I saw a T-bone steak so thick.”
Marco added: “Make a booking now because they’re swamped, last night they had 163 customers. It’s very cheap and they should put the prices up, book now and Felice will look after you.”
Before leaving, Marco left his mark on the restaurant by signing a tablecloth with the words: “Love M. P. W x. The Best in Swindon. Trust Me!”
