HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Cupcakes, Boom! is returning to the Made in Hawaii Festival with new local macaron flavors.
A Hilo native turned her dreams into a reality with her business that handmakes cupcakes, French macarons and cake designs.
Owner Nikki Savella and Olena Heu with the Made in Hawaii Festival joined HNN’s Sunrise to talk about the upcoming event.
“I started this business because I just like to bake and make things from scratch — it was a way to give back to my family and community,” Savella said.
This is the business’ second appearance at the festival. Last year, they baked over 30,000 macarons and shipped them from Hilo.
“It was so great to see the community, and everyone come out to support us,” she said, “and we are excited to be doing it again.”
Local flavors are debuting at the event, which is from Aug. 15-17 at the Hawaii Convention Center:
Aug. 15, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.Aug. 16, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.Aug. 17, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
