We’re live. Hey y’all. It’s Chris and Tammy with Collard Valley Cooks. It’s Saturday. We’ve been doing all kind of stuff and I’m starving and we’re going to have a tuna fish salad sandwich. I’ve been want to actually been wanting to make a tuna casserole, but tonight we’re going to just have tuna salad. I like to mix it. This is actually in olive oil and this one is in water. And instead of buying them both in oil or both in water, I like to mix the two together and then you get the best of both worlds because with two things of oil, it’s quite oily. Now, some of y’all make tuna fish and eat it and it’s quite boring, but let me tell you, that’s white tuna. Me and Chris um have some good tuna fish. We make it exciting. We put a lot of stuff in it that gives it crunch and more flavor than just adding a little mayonnaise and salt and pepper. And mama always did too. So I am going to start by draining it a little. Sorry y’all. Okay. So I’m going to drain it in here. There’s the white tuna in water. And I don’t really have it’s that’s easy to drain. I don’t I don’t have to drain it a lot or I can smash it a little, I guess. There it is. Looks good. Delicious. And this is tuna and olive oil. And it don’t want to just come right out. Boy, that got it packed in there, too. Let me tell you, which is a good thing. You’re getting plenty for your money. Now, I know a lot of y’all eat tuna salad and uh I mean, there’s just a plethora of things you can do with it really. I wanted cucumber in it today and I don’t have any cucumber so I’ll settle with bread and butter pickles. Okay. You can put pickle relish in there if you want to. U we also put boiled eggs. Now I know a lot of y’all don’t like them. Me and Chris love them and boy do they add some flavor to it. So we’re going to put them in here. Y’all let us know how you doing today. You’re not going to believe this. Guess what? We came through the neighborhood earlier and we had never seen so much water in our neighborhood. And I looked on a map that shows you how many inches of rain has fallen in the last 24 hours. And in the town of Richmond Hill, which is where we live, it was not even quite 2 in, but out here where we live, it was six inches of rain. We’ve had so much rain. Um, and when it rains like that, I don’t really want to wash clothes because you know the drainage. I mean, we could, but it’s not good for your drainage system to do that. Um, so I haven’t washed clothes and I need to. You show them your little thing. Poke holes in the eggs with Oh, yeah. I’ve shown it to them before. Have you been using it? They can’t hear me. So, I know that Chris can’t y’all can’t hear Chris. We can’t get our microphones to work right. And I have ordered three different sets. And I’ve been having interference. And if today it’s interfering, we are probably going to have to get another phone because I actually think it’s the connection to the phone instead of the microphones we’re trying to use because we’ve really been trying to use different ones. Chris is asking me if Chris, I’m sorry. It’s hard for me to think of. Oh, yes. I’ve shown them that this pokes a hole in the bottom of the egg. And if you poke a hole in the bottom of your egg before you put it in the water to boil, it will absolutely peel good. And uh a friend sent me this named Bob. He’s a viewer. He’s a viewer. All right, we’re going to put a little celery to give it a crunch. here. Let me come over there. Trying to reach. So, anyway, we’ve had a lot of rain. So, no, we haven’t been in the swimming pool or been able to enjoy oursel outside today. And the birds feeder is water logged. I think Chris is going to have to go out there and clean it out. And we try to remember to bring them in, but sometimes we get these pop-up storms and you just don’t have time to get out there and get everything in. And I like to put all my plants outside when it rains, too. So that they get good and plenty of rain. All right. Celery. This is a tuna salad deluxe sandwich. Now, um I do put dill sometimes in my chicken salad. Um but I’m not going to put dill in here. But you can you can use dill in it all day long. You can most people either go tend tend to go with a sweet pickle or they use dill. And so that’s up to you um which one you want to go with. We always like sweet. We are sweet eaters. Mama raised us that way. He’s showing you that that’s blue plate mayonnaise. I’m going to put a lot of pepper in it. I like a lot of pepper in my tuna salad. And we’re going to mix this up. Don’t that look good? Now, if you don’t like egg, of course, just don’t put it in there. And if you don’t want to use mayonnaise and you want to use something else, go right ahead. Um, shoot. A lot of people eat tuna for work at work and they just open it up and eat it on crackers. But boy, when you can make a deluxe like this, it’s really good. Do you want me to put sweet pickles in it, Chris? Yeah. Chris wants some sweet pickles in it. Mama always put them in there. Now, I don’t put sweet pickles in our chicken salad, but we do like it in our tuna salad. There’s just a difference in the two. And we like our chicken salad savory. And we like our tuna salad with a sweet kind of like our dill um deiled eggs. We also like sweet pickles in. And my potato salad I like sweet pickles with. Boy, that looks good, don’t it? Now, you could toast your bread if you want to. And I didn’t toast ours. I like thick sliced bread. They always ask about that bread. Oh, yeah. It’s my favorite. It’s Nature’s Own perfectly crafted thick slice multi-grain. And it’s expensive. So, if you can get it on sale and freeze it, that’s what I do. I put them in the freezer when I get it on sale and then we just pull them out when we want to eat it. Or if you go to Sam’s Club or um Costco, you can get them there, too. And then this is our favorite potato chip, y’all. Is Lays lightly salted. We love them. We think they’re delicious. All right, so we’re going to make this sandwich. I can’t put cucumber on it because I don’t have any. I think I’m going to make me a half sandwich. Then I’ll make two half sandwiches and I’ll taste one and leave one for a picture. All right, so here we go. Lots of tuna fish. I like it piled on there. Did you ever get a tuna fish salad sandwich at uh Subway, Chris? Did you like their tuna fish salad? You did? Um they piled theirs high. I know. Back in the day. I don’t know if they do anymore. We hardly ever go to Subway. Now we go to Firehouse instead of Subway. But when the kids were young, we went Subway all the time. If it was a work day and I was tired from work, sometimes we’d get a sandwich at Subway. Okay, so I am actually going to put a couple of sweet pickles on mine and some lettuce. And I wish I had a slice of cucumber, but I don’t. So, you know, it is what it is. So, here’s my lettuce. Tomato. Yeah, we don’t have tomato. I I told Chris I’ve got to go to the grocery store. Everything in my refrigerator has just about had it to tell you the truth. I This is classic bread and butter. I just love them. I love them with my supper. And yes, Granny made 14-day sweet pickles. And so we always had pickles and mama made them too. And I have a recipe in the master cookbook and in the one of the cookbooks. Can’t remember what number it is for my 14 or for Granny’s 14day sweet pickles. So there you have it. My deluxe tuna fish salad. And I put the extra pickles on mine for a nice crunch. I always get a big bite. I can’t help it. I’m starving. I’m actually not starving, but me and Kristen have lunch today. So, this is our lunch and our supper allin-one. So, I hope you enjoyed watching our simple, well, it’s not really simple, tuna fish salad, but we’ve got white abacor, we’ve got tuna and oil, we’ve got mayonnaise, pickles, lettuce. It’s really good. I hope y’all have a wonderful and blessed night and I hope the Lord don’t bring us any more rain in this neighborhood. Y’all have a blessed night and we’ll see you next time on Colored Valley Cooks Cooking Light. Our mama’s dead. Bye y’all. Love you.

  1. I love tuna salad. I always use sweet pickle until I didn’t have any one day and I used dill pickles and I’ve never went back.

  2. My mom always used celery and sweet pickles but not an egg on toasted bread. Now I am craving a tuna fish sandwich !
I put grapes into chicken salad.

  3. Hi Tammy thanks you for sharing this with me and that looks so delicious ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊

  4. I love to add a can of chopped jalapenos in my corn bread and my husband bought (by mistake) a jar of pickled sweet jalapenos. He does not like to eat sweet pickles at all, so the jar went to me. I have fallen in LOVE with the bread and butter pickled jalapenos and tried them the other day in tuna, and oh my gosh!!! They are AMAZING!!!!

  5. That tuna salad looks delicious Tammy! You can send some of that rain to Tennessee, all our lawns are drying up.

  6. Just watched a hack today of putting eggs in the air fryer for boiled eggs. Seems to work good.

  7. I heard that the reason Subways tuna salad is so good is because they put twice as much mayo in it…much than you just did.
