Finally made it to Interstellar BBQ after living nearby for years. Not because of the Michelin star, but simply because we’ve been curious. We brought visiting friends and family along, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the hype.
The brisket (pictured, fatty cut) was well seasoned but disappointingly super dry. The ribs were also dry and lacked seasoning. The sausage was a highlight. It was packed with flavor and well balanced. The pork belly had good smoke and flavor but was very chewy and tough when I was hoping for that melt-in-your-mouth texture. The beef ribs were excellent, but it was hard to fully enjoy them given how uneven the rest of the meal was.
Surprisingly, the standout for me was the creamed corn. It was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. If only the rest of the meal matched that level.
Maybe it was a bad tray? Bad day?
Or maybe the volume of popularly caught up to the quality? My question is, has anyone tried it way before the whole M star, and after? Was there a difference?
I’m still gonna give it another try. Just maybe next time, I’ll be more selective on my choices.
