IRONDALE, AL (WBMA) — In Irondale, a very popular barbecue spot etched their name in history breaking the Guinness World Record for most sandwiches sold.
Golden Rule BBQ and Grill are attempting to sell the most barbecue pulled pork sandwiches in a day.
The popular barbecue restaurant was founded in 1891, and was voted best of Alabama for 2025.
The Alabama restaurant began their attempt to break the record on August 9, as they celebrate 134-years of service.
Golden Rule says all sandwiches will be $0.95. The restaurant began serving customers at 10:30 a.m and concluded at 6:30 p.m.
The famous historic barbecue spot said in a live on Facebook, they broke the record, selling 6200 barbecue sandwiches, nearly 1500 more than the previous record holder, Kinston Barbecue that set their record on May, 3, 2025.
The barbecue spot took time to address supporters on Facebook, thanking them for coming, and promising to take care of people were not able to receive one due to them being sold out.
