The smoke and flavor of this was very decent and if it weren’t for the completely incorrect texture you might have fooled me. Whoever thought fish was springy, snappy and crunchy. Normally I’d go into depth about my review but let it be know this isn’t worth the effort.
Final verdict: 2/10
I can understand why this was on super sale

Looks fancy, so it’s celery root in imitation fish sauce?
Nope
Yeah, totally gross, tried it once.
Crime Against Humanity.
I don’t know about this particular product. But please, people don’t’ be discouraged from celeriac (celery root) it is absolutely delicious mashed or in soup or as a side salad cut into strips with a honey mustard dressing!
3rd or 4th review I’ve seen of this product on this sub. Yours might in fact be the most positive; it seems universally reviled. I think I can recall someone saying that some of the other products they are offering are mildly better, but still poor substitutes.
They must make a killing on these because they’re selling them for $10 a can. That’s like a dollar per 1” piece of canned celery root.
I don’t get why they put “white fish” on it at all. Just call it what it is.
Edit: or sea food. It’s not fish or sea food
Celeriac root is amazing when it’s not trying to impersonate an animal.
I’ve seen these in the tinned fish section at my local Whole Foods, I’ve been curious but it sounded awful so I never bought it, I see it looks awful too.
Thank you for posting though, now I know to never buy this stuff 😂
I LOVE celery root and have been looking for a good vegan fish so this is super disappointing. Usually I make vegan tuna using roughly chopped garbanzo beans mixed with all the regular tuna salad fixings and a sprinkle of kelp powder to give it that combo of umami and the sea so I’m wondering, if this were chopped up in a smoked tuna salad way do you think that would help?
I’m curious
… sorry i’ll eat dog food before i’d even consider eating plant based seafood
The enoki mushroom “crab” one is great. It quite crabs, but it’s delicious
Oh pity, it did look interesting
