Learn how to make the most authentic, flavorful harissa paste right in your kitchen. This traditional North African chili paste is a versatile condiment that adds a spicy, smoky kick to everything from stews and grilled meats to sandwiches and dips.

In this video, I’ll show you how to make authentic harissa paste through the simple steps to create rich and complex Tunisian harissa flavors at home. Traditional ingredients like chilies, roasted red peppers, and a perfectly balanced blend of spices, including caraway, cumin, and coriander.

Harissa paste Ingredients:
• 7 dried red chilies
• 1 large bell pepper
• 3 garlic cloves
• 1 tbsp tomato paste
• 1 tbsp olive oil for grinding, and more to top if storing.
• 1 tbsp lemon juice
• 1 tsp ground cumin
• 1 tsp ground coriander
• 1 tsp smoked paprika
• 1 tsp toasted caraway seeds
• Salt to taste

Instructions:
• Roast the red bell peppers on an open flame. Keep it covered in a bowl. After 10 minutes, peel off the burnt skin. A little bit of charred skin I okay.
• Deseed the red chilies. Soak dried red chilies in hot water for 15 minutes or until soft.
• Blend all ingredients (mentioned above in the ingredient list) together without adding water. Store in a clean, dry, and sterilized jar.
