Looks like they were already dead and rotting, and this is just nature doing its thing. Soil temp maybe got too high?

I don’t understand how gardeners can know so little about bugs, or be so freaked out by them. They’re millipedes. Like, why would it be a surprise that there are bugs in your rotten potatoes? Who else is going to eat them?
It’s honestly depressing to me, this dramatic, fearful attitude about the natural world. I see countless posts like this in all the nature subs I subscribed to. I’m over it, clearly. We’re actually in the middle of a massive, manmade extinction event, but the way people talk about insects on it’s a subreddit, you would think that they’re the ones killing us.
