Hey everybody, I’m Chef Tom with atbbq.com and this is barbecue sloppy joe’s. All right, you did it. By popular demand, I’m finally doing a sloppy joe recipe, which is one of my favorite sandwich. I can’t even finish this sentence. Let’s just get into it. Just a little knife work to do on this. We’re going to need about one cup of diced yellow onion. Look, I know how kids are, and I know kids like sloppy joe’s. Extra sloppy. So, I’m going to cut these onions down small because sometimes my kids complain if the onions are too big. Next, we got a couple cloves of garlic. I’m just going to break these down on the microplane. Working on the Fusion griddle today. Going to hit it with some duck fat to start. I’m going to throw down our Creek Stone Farms brisket blend ground beef. Let’s start to get a little bit of a sear on here. And I’m going to throw the onions right into the mix. Also want to get this seasoned up using the Yodar Smoker’s beef rub. These onions are going to start steam cooking on top of the beef while the beef is forming a crust underneath. So we have a little bit of texture in this sloppiness. So now that we’ve kind of got a crust going on the bottom, chop this up. Flip it around. Oh, look at that. Now, I’m really going to break it down cuz we’re going to start adding the liquid ingredients here and I want it to really get soaked up into that beef. For the sauces, we’re using Firebug mild, chili slingers, fatali mustard, and some w sauce worsture. So, we put that grated garlic in there. Now, mix this around. We let it cook just briefly as we start to put our sauces in. Barbecue sloppy joe’s got to have barbecue sauce. Want some tanginess, too, so we’re using that fitali mustard. Diced tomatoes. And then just a dash of that W sauce. Cool. while I’m making them extra sloppy for you. Bonus ingredient here. I’ve got some cheddar cheese curds that I chopped up. So, we get these nice little pockets of cheesiness. Not even going to let them cook that long. Just warm them up. And this thing’s done in what, like five minutes. Pretty easy. Let’s get them out of there and build some sandwiches. So, down on the bun, a few pickles. Serving it up cafeteria style with the scoop. That’s all there is to it. Those cheese curds are pulling. B. Boom. Bow. I don’t hate it. It’s barbecue and sloppy joe together. What’s not to like? And especially cheese curds. Feed me more. Thank you guys so much for watching. 1. Not gonna lie I'm going to be highly critical of this recipe, as I just cooked sloppy joes this week!

Im NEVER critical of you, as you always put out perfection. However…

    1. Add soy (umami) coupled with the wo sauce.
    2. Must have green pepper to add a bit of brightness.
    3. Much more black pepper and add red chili flake.
    4. Dont add cheese, not a sloppy joe. Like adding bacon to a grilled cheese, not a BLT any more.

  2. Even as a child I always hated Sloppy Joes. From the can or made from scratch, always gross. Just make a regular burger, it's easier and much tastier.

  3. Well you did say quick and easy, I would slow it down just a bit and make my own sauce, but the cheese idea is awesome. I have never had a cheese curd but I get the idea, found out they sell them locally so I will definitely try it.

  4. Great recipe ❤ !

I would just toast the buns, so the bread doesn't suck all the juices too quickly and it also adds a nice crunch to it

  5. A lot of “you should have done this” or “you should have done that”. Absolutely not! There’s only ONE legitimate critique of this video…Tom should have swapped out the hat for a hair net! Beyond that, the recipe is fantastic.

  6. Love your videos, and these sloppy joe's look amazing! It would be great when you use these specialty sauces you would recommend an alternative that is readily available at grocery stores though!

  7. Too funny, it's liked you were forced to do just a normal weeknight meal that everyone loved. Shame on you for being just a regular Joe! 🤣
