Hey r/koreanfood,
I need your help settling a very serious matter.

My family has been split into two camps for as long as I can remember: Team Jin Ramen and Team Shin Ramen. Every grocery trip turns into a negotiation… sometimes even a silent standoff in the noodle aisle.

Me? I’m 100% on the Shin Ramen Black side rich broth, deep flavor, pure happiness in a bowl.
The Jin fans in my family keep saying it’s “clean and smooth” (still not sure what that’s supposed to mean… am I missing something?).

So here’s my plea:
Which one truly reigns supreme Jin or Shin?
Cast your vote in the comments (bonus points if you explain why).

Let’s settle this once and for all so I can either bask in victory… or admit defeat at the next family dinner.
Upvotes = more ramen lovers join the battle. Let’s make this the most democratic noodle decision in history. 🍜

my best is jin. shins’ spiciness sometimes not combined with its savour.

Jin. Jin Mild is underrated in this sea of spicy instant ramen era.

    Jin spicy.

Does anyone remember Jin Hot and Spicy? With the teeny tiny meatballs that would reconstitute in the hot water? Gosh I still wish I knew what happened to it. It was discontinued maybe a year into the pandemic if I remember correctly? I moved to Korea for a few years some time after that and it was gone from there too, so it isn’t a regional supply issue… 💔 I miss it, THAT was the best ramyeon

Jin! The noodles are also better!

I vote…that our store carry either one of these or both in addition to the U.S. standards of cheap Maruchan and Top Ramen.

Shin because that was my wife’s name

  7. bad_goblin

Shin, but the Korean version. The western ones are too toned down

  8. Shin is overrated but it’s still the best.

Real answer is whatever is on clearance at h mart. That’s my favorite.

  9. salt-moth

Shin is the only answer! It’s smooth! It’s got the right amount of chew! It’s perfect!

  10. team neoguri. for balance I like mixing neoguri and jin

Shin Gold > Shin > Jin Spicy > Shin Black > Jin Mild

  12. Shin black. That broth is rich and creamy, as it should be since it’s a bone broth.

  13. Shin.

Although I worked for them so kind of biased.

  14. SophiePuffs

My household is split. My fav is Shin black, my husband’s fav is mild Jin.

I like shin black. Mom can’t stand shin and prefers Jin for its ….wait for it… “clean and smooth taste.” No lie.

I have a friend who’ll only eat Jin because she’s a huge Jin fan from BTS. But Shin all day.

    Jin Spicy.

The shitakke mushroom flavor from Shin always nauseated me while pregnant and it stayed. Jin always comforted me with its bouncy noodles and soothing spice. I keep trying shin but Jin will always reign as king in my home.

Shin. Shin+Japanese Curry+a slice of American cheese is dope.

  19. megasilva

Shin better, but Jin noodles themselves have a better texture imo

  20. Adept-Watercress-378

    Whichever is on sale.

    But 1 for 1: Shin

  21. PhilosopherMoonie

Jin always. I wonder if its the same though? In Canada it looks like this. I find shin too spicy to really enjoy the flavors of and if I want spicy im going buldak.

just buy both of them. thats the only way

  23. Potatocrips423

Shin all day. Perfect amount of spice and lovely noodle. I eat at least four a week.

  24. noodletropin

Shin Black > Jin Mild > Shin > Jin Spicy.

How is the Shin Black different from the regular Shin? I tired it and couldn’t really tell the difference. The Black is much much more expensive.
