Carlsberg Britvic’s new Portuguese wine label, Lazy Bones, is designed to bring fruity and vibrant flavours to long, lazy afternoons.
Carlsberg Britvic’s on-trade exclusive wine division, Crown Cellars, has introduced a new Portuguese wine label, Lazy Bones, which brings fruity and vibrant vibes to long, lazy afternoons.
Lazy Bones wines are born just an hour’s drive from Lisbon, in the city of Almeirim, Portugal, in the heart of the Tejo wine region. Formerly known as Ribatejo, the area is famous for its wine production, featuring a mix of local traditional varieties such as Fernão Pires and Castelão, as well as an increasing number of international varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
Cosied along the banks of the River Tagus (Tejo), Quinta do Casal Branco winery has been harnessing the diverse terroir of the region since 1775. The winery was officially established in 1817 and now spans 119 hectares of vineyards, producing exceptional wines. Under the guidance of winemakers Joana Lopes and Manuel Lobo, the winery was chosen by the team at Crown Cellars for its rich heritage and its ability to create high-quality wines with a distinct character. This unique characteristic inspired the name ‘Lazy Bones’ for Crown Cellars’ new wine label, as well as the label’s mascot – a carefree cat enjoying a glass of wine and quintessentially Portuguese tinned sardines.
Launched in March 2025, Lazy Bones introduced two vintages from 2024: Branco and Tinto. These youthful and approachable wines carry the Vinho Regional Tejo designation, providing versatility and quality at a reasonable price – considered the hallmarks of the region.
Lazy Bones Vinho Branco 2024 blends traditional Fernão Pires grapes – known for their spicy aromatic properties with nuances of exotic fruits – with Sauvignon Blanc, resulting in zesty, crisp, and vibrant notes of apple, pear, and melon on the nose and palate. With an alcohol content of 12% ABV, this fresh and bone-dry white wine pairs well with rosemary and lemon-roasted chicken.
Lazy Bones Vinho Tinto 2024 combines the local variety Castelão with Cabernet Sauvignon. Castelão, sometimes known as Periquita, is celebrated for its versatility and brings forth notes of red fruits, along with spicy and earthy undertones. Aromas of blueberries and black grapes accent the medium-bodied Tinto 2024, offered at 13.5% ABV. For the perfect pairing, consider enjoying Lazy Bones red wine with shredded pork and black bean tacos.
Lazy Bones wines are now available exclusively in the UK on-trade from Crown Cellars. For more information and on-trade enquiries, contact Crown Cellars.
