lentils in my opinion underused and underrated these lentils straight in water a generous amount of olive oil bay leaf bit of crystal salt spring of thyme onion carrot stick of celery it’s that simple when you put the aromats in it’s there to enhance the flavor of the lentils not to dominate the flavor of the lentils bring to the boil simmer for 35 to 40 minutes allow them to cool and then it’s what you do with them from there when the lentils become soft to the pallet that’s when they’re ready you don’t want any resistance okay they’re ready little bit pepper a little seasoning little bit more olive oil work it through onto the tray why to cool them down remove the garnish he has nothing left to give little more olive oil for my pallet just work that through i love lentils cooked the way my family in Italy cooked them lots of olive oil generous with the seasoning now that can be served with chicken roast meats and fish all on their

  1. Do it with barley exactly the same way but soak the corns over night first, wash and discard the water. I think it’s nicer or at least as nice as lentils. ❤

  2. What I love about Marco is he doesn't tell you what to do and just gives you a recipe. He explains why he is doing each step & how it improves the dish.

  3. Am I the only one disgusted by cooking shows? They always destroy the true taste of aliments by adding tremendous amounts of oil, butter and unnecessary condiments! Making in the process a healthy meal turn into a calorie intake you'd have to run 20km to burn off.
Just cook lentils in water, add an onion and carrots if you feel fancy. A teaspoon's worth of butter in your plate if it's winter, and you've got yourself a delicious meal!
Adding half a bottle of olive oil to that is nonsense.

  4. Lentils are not something that you can keep cooked in the refrigerator even for more than a couple days as they off gas nitrogen. I've made awesome lentil soup and canned it but it still goes sour because of this in a couple days.

  5. Th problem with them is the ratio of the amount of seed coat that is high in gi irritating saponins with cotyledons that are tiny and don’t store much. Give me pretty much any bigger bean.
