Our second day in Burgundy is over. It was a lovely day in Beaune, however, very hot. We drove down to Pommard and later the day we came back to Beaune.

First stop after a nice breakfast in Beaune we drove down to Pommard werw you visited Chateau de Pommard. Sadly a lot of wineries were closed today. We did the Clos Mary Monge tatsing which included 6 different wines made from the vineyard and single plots. The wines included:

Château de Pommard Clos Marey-Monge Micault Pommard 2022
Château de Pommard Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2019
Château de Pommard Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2015
Château de Pommard Clos Marey Monge 75 Rangs Pommard 2022
Château de Pommard Clos Marey-Monge Nicolas-Joseph Pommard 2022
Château de Pommard Clos Marey-Monge Nicolas-Joseph Pommard 2017

My favourite was the Nicolas-Joseph Pommard 2022: Concentrated. Cherry, oak, herbs, spicy / peppery. Some grip on the palate, slightly tart. High acidity.

Afterwards we returned to Beaune visiting the wine museum Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne. The musuem is interesting however, could be bit more detailed. The view from the rooftop was incredible.

To be continued

What were your thoughts on the Chateau Pommard tasting? I did it a couple of years ago – beautiful property but incredibly small pours!
