BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA — To promote healthy eating habits, Brevard County is offering the ‘Cooking the Mediterranean Way’ nutrition class every Thursday, August 21 to September 25, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the UF/IFAS Extension Office in Cocoa.

This class costs $65 and will be held at the UF/IFAS Extension Office, located at 3695 Lake Drive, Cocoa. Advance registration is required.

This class follows the Med Instead of Meds program, which teaches participants how to eat like those who live in the Mediterranean region. This style of eating has been shown to promote health and decrease the risk of many chronic diseases, including diabetes and heart disease.

This six-week hands-on class series is perfect for anyone looking to improve their eating habits and learn more about healthy eating.

Topics covered will include food demonstrations, tastings, tips, menu planning, and more. Participants will also have the opportunity to prepare two recipes each night.
