I was going to a friend's house for a board game day this weekend and was worried about how to keep to my calories and macros given I knew there would be snacks, drinks, pizzas etc available all day, so I asked my friend if he'd mind me bringing all of my food for the day, which he was.
I focused on high protein foods for maximum fullness but including tasty treats and some drinks too. This really helped me keep on track because every time I saw people snacking and got tempted, I knew I had something pre-made and easy to grab from my stash. I ended up not needing the protein water or protein cookie so I had:
- Homemade overnight oats with fresh fruit – 478 calories / 42,3g protein. Made from 50ml oat milk, 50g rolled oats, 60g 0% greek yoghurt, 5g chia seeds, 30g white chocolate raspberry whey protein, 8g "superberries", 3g coaco powder, 70g raspberries, 100g strawberries
- Thai green chicken curry – 559 calories / 50.22 protein – I have a meal prep service during the week so I saved one of my weekday meals for this.
- MyProtein Jimmy's iced coffee – 135 calories, 14g protein
- MyProtein popped crisps (salt & vinegar) – 92 calories / 11g protein
- Not pictured – my friend had also bought strawberries so I had another 100g of strawberries which is around 33 calories, and I tried a sugar free Karma Cola – 13 calories / 0 protein.
Not eaten:
- MyProtein gooey filled cookie (double chocolate and peanut butter) – one of my favourite snacks atm! 290 calories / 15g protein
- Protein water – 41 calories / 10g protein
This brought me to 1,302 calories / 117g protein. I saved the cookie for a late night snack but didn't need it when I got home so ended up under my calories. I'll definitely look to do something similar in this situation in the future.

PS I tend to start my day with a coffee and then eat 2 main meals (around early afternoon and mid evening) then a snack in the evening, hence having only two meals here. I knew I would be around snacks all day so thought I would keep this approach but giving myself the option to snack throughout the day with various high protein / low calorie sweet and savoury snacks.
Do you usually eat 1300 cals and did you lose weight from it already?
