My homemade applesauce is so simple to make, makes the kitchen smell incredible, and tastes much better than anything you can buy at the store!

⭐️Ingredients⭐️
4 pounds (1.8kg) crisp sweet apples, rinsed, 8 large apples
One 3-inch cinnamon stick or 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, fresh orange juice, or apple cider vinegar
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
1 to 2 whole star anise, optional
Brown sugar, honey, maple syrup, or other sweetener to taste, optional

Homemade applesauce is simple to make, makes the kitchen smell incredible and taste much better than anything you can buy at the store. Start with 4 lbs of crisp sweet apples. These are Honey Crisp and Fuji, but use what you love. Peel the apples however you like. An apple peeler does make things go quickly, but a veggie peeler does the trick. Now the apples are peeled, we need to core and cut them into chunks. Do this with an apple cutter or use a knife. Use what you have. Throw the apple pieces into a big heavy pot. And then add 1/4 cup of water, about 2 tbsp of fresh lemon juice, and some spices. I’m using a cinnamon stick, star anis, and vanilla extract. Cover the pot with its lid and cook on medium low until the apples are really soft. Take the pot off of the heat and let the apple sit for about 10 minutes. Then remove the spices and blend or mash the apples. And that’s it. Homemade applesauce that’s full of fresh apple flavor. I just love it. Enjoy.
