I posted here several months ago wondering what to do with my sad, leggy Thai big hots that I hadn’t expected to survive the winter.

Someone recommended cutting them back pretty hard and putting them outside this summer, and I’m pleased to report they are PACKED with peppers! I probably could have pruned them a bit more regularly throughout the season to make them even bushier, but we are new homeowners and were overwhelmed by other areas of the garden that needed attention. The bees love the flowers and they seem really happy overall.

I’ll be cutting them back a bit again for the winter, but for now we’re excited to enjoy the rest of the growing season and stock up on spicy peppers for this fall!

Not pruning during the growing season is probably the right call. Its something I’ve learned from Pepper Geek and other knowledgeable professionals.
