This piece fell out of my latch on my classic II – I’ve tried screwing it back in with no luck. Do I need a new latch? Any suggestion on getting the threads to catch?

Fixed this just this weekend. The whole latch mechanism (green bolts) needs to be unscrewed from the KJ itself. This allows you to get the appropriate angle to screw the clip back in under latch (red arrow). You can tighten to adjust the seal.
