Went to the store to grab two chuck roasts for this weekend they had a few around 3lbs priced at 30ish dollars and this baby brisket at 10 lbs for 50 bucks. I remember when a chuck roast was under 10 bucks.

Within the last 10 years chuck roast was sub $3 regularly. For a long time it was my favorite poor man’s cut. When beef prices went through the roof during the pandemic pork shoulder became my favorite poor. $10 a pound for chuck is just insanity.

I used to grab chuck roast for pot roast nights all the time because it was such an affordable, tasty option. Now I can barely justify the price, it’s wild how quickly things changed. Like you, I switched to pork shoulder during the pandemic since it was way more budget friendly and honestly just as delicious if you cook it low and slow.
