I’m sure you’ve noticed that Downtown Rochester has several construction projects underway. A big project just wrapped up, and as of today, you can enjoy amazing food at a new restaurant in the Med City. If you love cheese curds, I hear they are pretty proud of what they are serving up at this new place!
Support Local Challenge Happening Now in Rochester, Minnesota
I’m a huge advocate of showing some local love to our businesses that are impacted by the construction happening in town. Every day on Y-105FM, I talk during my radio show about local businesses in our community and either share your suggestions or one of my own. Got one? The reason is that I could see the ghost town that some of the construction projects were creating. Customers aren’t sure how to get to businesses. Detours can be confusing and it is just easier to shop somewhere else that doesn’t have a sea or orange cones surrounding it. It’s not easier for our businesses, though – they need us.
North Broadway construction has been a process for a few years and every time it expands to another street or side, the struggle is felt. Businesses near various Mayo Clinic buildings and shops near the Kahler Grand Hotel, which has been open for over 100 years, could use some extra love as well.
If you’ve got an afternoon available, go explore the Subway level and check out the shops like Caribou Coffee, Saladworks, and Carroll’s Corn. You could also stop and eat at the brand new restaurant, North Stone Kitchen, inside the Marriott at 101 1st Ave. SW.

If you were familiar with Salute Wine Bar, you know exactly where North Stone Kitchen is located. We all heard that this new restaurant would be finished and ready for guests in mid-August, and that goal was hit right on the nose.
North Stone Kitchen posted on its Instagram story today that it was their Grand Opening!
