I have a (non lethal) allergy to bivalve mollusks so I need to be careful and I don’t recognize this

looks like it could be a surf clam but not 100% sure

Surf clam (mollusk) that was likely frozen. Imo it has little flavor and has a crunch to it

Surf clam with some freezer burn. Fresh is sweet with a bit of chew.

Hokigai aka surf clam aka arctic surf clam. If you have allergy to bivalve this will make you allergic

Giant surf clam is good in small amounts. It provides a texture contrast, but not my fave.

Are you only allergic to Bivalves? Univalves are ok?

Almost looks more like akagai to me. Showed Japanese wife. She thought the same

Did you ask the person that brought it or the chef/waiter?

If you have an allergy (even mild) you should ask questions right?
