Recipe, slightly adjusted below due to typo in video.
My original casserole recipe that has a creamy ground beef, but uses no cream and layers of thin slices of potato and some delicious cheddar cheese.
An easy casserole to make at home for the family or for single people to make and portions can be frozen once cooked.
This is a delicious dinner that can be eaten by itself or served with vegetables of a fresh salad.
Think of it like a lasagna with potatoes instead of pasta and a white, creamy sauce, rather than a tomato based one.

I hope you try it for yourself and enjoy!

πŸ“ *** THE RECIPE *** πŸ“

Oil – 2 Tbsp.
Ground Beef – 500g (1.1lb).
Onion – 2 medium (diced)
Minced Garlic – 2 Tbsp.
Black Pepper – 1/2 tsp.
Salt – 1 tsp.
Italian or Mixed Herbs – 1.5 Tbsp. (Basil, Oregano, Rosemary, Thyme).
Plain Flour – 1 cup.
Milk -2 cups.
Beef Stock (Bullion) – 3 cups.
Potatoes – 7 medium (approximately) Slice thinly, so they cook quicker.
Cheddar Cheese – 3 cups (1 in one layer, 2 on top).

πŸ’‘Making the beef sauce thick will help the dish stay in nice layers.
πŸ’‘If potatoes are not browned after the 80 minutes, take the lid off and put back in until they get
some colour and go slightly crispy. Then take out and add cheese on top.
πŸ’‘The mix will be easier to spread if it is warm. It thickens as it cools.
πŸ’‘The flour and milk are to make the mix super thick (like making a roux) and then the beef stock is added to make the thick sauce.

  3. never seen the cookie tray trick. why is something such a simple fix for not using foil, but many of us can't come up with it on our own? lololo. thanks Daz, and the meal looks like "oh yeah, baby" good!

  4. ❀ I haven't tried this recipe yet, but I've been searching high and low for one like this. Theres a similar dish called sh*t on a shingle. I dont know why πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. We couldn't remember the ingredients we've used in the past. Every recipe found, uses cream of mushroom soup. We did don't want to chance doing that. Thank you!!!!!!

  5. Thank you for this inspiration. I used to make something similar to this years ago, and found this recipe. It's in the oven as I type this and it smells so good! I like how you do your presentation also.
